off the hook…

…the phone that is. I was hearing NOTHING about job offers in South Korea the whole time I was in Europe, hoping I’d get at least an e-mail saying there would be some interviews set up for when I got home, then BAM, I am having 3 in a row. I have already had 2 - one for a city called Ilsan, and another Yongin, and the last in Suwon. All close to Seoul, which is good, since my big debate was between Seoul and Busan… but I have not yet gotten any job offers near Busan, so it looks as though Seoul will be it. Any advice on where to live, or questions to ask when being interviewed… seeing as it seems to be more me asking questions then them (so far…)

More detials about the interviews tomorrow, I’d appreciate any tips/advice!

This is the first K-Pop song I ever heard over a year ago, and started my NEED to come to this country!

the beginning

I have been following the tumblr blog community made up of girls in South Korea who are teaching English for quite some time now, and I thought I’d like to get a little more involved in the whole thing, especially now since I plan on coming to South Korea myself in the next few months from Canada!

I just finished university in April 2010 - it was an amazing time, but I knew I was ready to move on… unlike a lot of my friends who went back for round 5. No, I wanted something more. I left behind everyone that summer, and taught English for a month in Italy, and then took the remaining two months of my summer to travel the rest of Europe. It was life changing, and enough to convince me, that yes, I can handle a year away from home. Yes, I missed my friends, family, and Canada in only the three short months I was away, but I was also essentially homeless, never staying anywhere longer then a few days. Korea I think - will be a completely different experience all together.

I am ready for a new challenge. I have only been home for 2 weeks, working full time at a job I could have gotten without a university degree in my hometown… not very interesting, especially after the summer I just had. The Korean thing I have been looking into for almost a year now - which is how my addiction to this tumblr community began… actually that is a lie. K-pop started my addiction.

My friends were surprised… SOUTH KOREA… of all the places to go teach for a year WHY ASIA? I guess no one understands why I have a thing for asian guys, nor my OBSESSION with k-pop. Yes, try forcing 5 of your housemates to pre-drink to ShinEE over Usher.

I am just ready to start sharing my journey to Korea and getting to know you ladies better, as well as you getting to know me. I am SO excited for it all to begin, and I have to say, your blogs have got me feeling like I am already there at times.

Keep it classy.
